Doris Harper-White Playhouse

Doris Harper-White Community Playhouse, erected in 1923, was originally the Elks Lodge and later became the Flagstaff Library. The hall is now known as an intimate black box venue for the Theatrikos Theatre Company. The performance space seats 99 individuals. Theatrikos patrons are never more than five rows away from the stage area.

      05/25/12- 06/10/12	One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Doris Harper-White Playhouse One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Presented by Theatrikos Theatre Company at Doris Harper-White Playhouse May 25-June 10, 2012 Randle P. McMurphy is a charming rogue who contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather than in a prison. This, he learns, was a mistake. After clashing with the head nurse he takes over the ward, accomplishing what the medical profession has been unable to do; he makes a presumed deaf and mute Indian talk. He leads others out of introversion, stages a revolt so they can see the World Series on television, and arranges a rollicking midnight party.

His two sons ? Cliff, 20s-30s; Travis, 30s-40s ? are notified, and they converge upon the desert to say their goodbyes and make peace with their father. Travis, after his father ran away, ran away, too, so the reunion at the hospital is multi-faceted. It is soon revealed that Walter is schizophrenic. The play moves back...

      11/30/12- 12/16/12	A Christmas Carol Doris Harper-White Playhouse A Christmas Carol Presented by Theatrikos Theatre Company at Doris Harper-White Playhouse November 30-December 16, 2012 A faithful rendition of the Dickens classic in which Ebenezer Scrooge is haunted by the ghosts of his late partner, Jacob Marley, Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come. Faced with his own mortality, and the evil results of his misanthropic, miserly ways, Scrooge is redeemed, reconciled with his nephew and his neighbors, and becomes a second father to his assistant's son, Tiny Tim.
