    14th Annual Northern Arizona Book Festival Features Award-Winning Authors

     

    Flagstaff, AZ , March 29, 2011– The 14th Annual Northern Arizona Book Festival will take place on Saturday, April 16 at the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff. This year’s festival is a day-long event, featuring panels and readings from a dozen fiction and nonfiction writers and poets, including novelist Jamie Ford and poet Michael Collier. Ford’s novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, was named an IndieBound NEXT List Selection, a Borders Original Voices Selection, and a Barnes & Noble Book Club Selection. Collier is the director of the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference and is a professor at the University of Maryland.

    In addition, this year’s participating authors include Stewart Aitchison, Donna Ashworth, Carol Berg, Carolyn O’Bagy Davis, Nancy Pickard, Inés Villafañe-León, and NAU alumni Erik Bitsui, Jerry Gabriel, T. Greenwood, and Ana Maria Spagna. Also, this year’s high school student winners of the annual Jim Simmerman Poetry Prize will read from their work.

    All daytime events are free and open to the public. The evening event, featuring Ford and Collier, will have a $5 admission fee. The full schedule of events is on the website, www.nazbookfest.com.

    The mission of the Northern Arizona Book Festival is to celebrate and promote literacy and literature with the people of northern Arizona and the greater Southwest.
