Flagstaff's premiere Middle Eastern dance company was formed by Karen Custer Thurston, M.S. in 1997. From swirling veils to breathtaking sword work, their original choreographies both surprise and tantalize. Al Rakasaat honors and enlivens any stage they grace. Audiences will be treated to a diverse sound - powerful African djoun djouns, djembe and darabouka drums, exotic Moroccan cymbals, finger cymbals, sticks and tambourine joined by spontaneous vocalisations from the dancers.
