The Merry Wives of Windsor
February 5-February 28, 2010
Flagstaff audiences will delight in watching the seduction, conniving and mischief-making of Shakespeare's great bourgeois farce, The Merry Wives of Windsor. A talented cast of 23 local performers help tell the story of penniless protagonist Sir John Falstaff and his attempts at wooing Mistress Ford and Mistress Page to get at their husbands' money. Things take a hilarious turn when the boisterous and cowardly Falstaff?played by Tony Sutera?overplays his hand and the two wives played by Becky Daggett and Vicki Thompson decide to turn the tables on the fat knight. The only of Shakespeare's comedies to be set in his native land, the play produced a comedic tradition that reaches all the way to the modern TV sitcom. Under the direction of long-time Theatrikos directors Linda Sutera and Virginia Brown, along with the seasoned Scott Tignor as assistant director, the show kicks off Theatrikos' 38th season.
